LTTE can't be ignored - Jaffna GA

The Government Agent of Jaffna told the Deputy High Commissioner for Australia in Sri Lanka Lorraine Barker, who met him at the Jaffna Kachcheri today that he has to take into consideration the interests of Liberation Tigers as well as those of the Sri Lankan army while carrying out his official duties.

Ms. Barker informed him that a final decision about official Australian development aid for the Jaffna District would be taken soon.

Ms. Barker is among the heads of foreign missions who are visiting Jaffna now.

Meanwhile, British High Commissioner to Sri Lanka David Tatham assured librarian S. Thanabalan today of a grant if the library shows signs of functioning smoothly, said sources in Jaffna.
