Tigers begin political work in Delft[TamilNet, Tuesday, 18 June 2002, 19:56 GMT]The Liberation Tigers Tuesday entered the islet of Delft in the Jaffna district for political work. A large number of residents gathered to receive the Tiger cadres, who were led by the head of the LTTE's political section in Delft, Mr.Kannan. Delft is one of the islets off Jaffna previously controlled by the Eelam Peoples Democratic Front (EPDF), a paramilitary group and a major ally of the main opposition People's Alliance. A group of LTTE members Monday went to the island of Kayts. They were given a rousing welcome by the residents of the village. Mr.S.Ilamparuthi, the head of the LTTE's political division for the Jaffna district, Ms. Thamilvili, the head of the LTTE women's political division for Jaffna, and several leaders of LTTE spoke at the reception. Liberation Tigers are scheduled to visit Nainativu, another island in the Jaffna district, Wednesday, sources said. The annual festival of Nagapooshani Amman temple is in progress in Nainativu.
