Tamil groups step up campaigning

A handbill asking the people to reject the Local government elections in Jaffna was widely distributed there. The handbill was issued in the name of patriots (Thesapakthar).
Meanwhile the EPDP has put out a leaflet attacking the PLOTE. The EPDP has also put up a large hoarding in front of Poopalasingham Book shop in the Jaffna Town. The EPDP's slogan said the "vote for us is the service to the people". A group of EPRLF cadres who went to Analiaithivy to campaign were turned back at Kytes. Some EPDP cadres with grenades are said to have indirectly threatened the EPRLF campaign group. The break away group of EPDP which is contesting as an independent group in the elections began, what they call a non-stop campaigning, in the islands off Jaffna.
