Morogoda visits Valikaamam-north, Thenmaradchi

A senior minister of the United National Front government Saturday evening said in Jaffna that the resettlement of the displaced in Valikaamam north and Nagarkovil area will take place after the commencement of peace talks between the government and the Liberation Tigers (LTTE). Minister of Economic Reforms Mr.Milinda Morogoda told this to Tamil National Alliance parliamentarians during his visit to Jaffna Saturday to look into the prospects of allowing resettlement in high security zones in the peninsula, Tamil sources said.
More than eighty three thousand persons displaced from Valikaamam north agitate that they should be allowed to resettle in their houses and lands. The Minister, however, said that the displaced from Mirusuvil women settlement scheme will be allowed to resettle in their lands, sources said. Minister Morogoda visited Thenmaradchi during his stay. Defence Secretary Austin Fernando, Peace Secretariat Secretary General Bernard Gunatilake, Jaffna SLA area commander Major General Sarath Fonseka and TNA parliamentarians N.Raviraj and Gajendrakumar accompanied the minister. The minister inspected Tellipallai Union College where he was briefed about the shortcomings of the school. The Minister assured that he would make arrangement to allocate funds to the improvement of the school with the assistance of the Treasury.
