LTTE emphasises cordial relations with Muslims

"The Tamil Eelam Police force will function without discriminating against anyone on grounds of religion, ethnicity or creed. Our leadership is firm that there should be cordial relations with the Muslim people in this region. Col. Karuna has sent us specific instructions in this regard from Thailand," said T. Ramesh, the Liberation Tigers‚ special commander for the Batticaloa-Amparai region, addressing the opening ceremony of the Tamil Eelam Police station in Palugamam, 30 kilometres southwest of Batticaloa, Tuesday.
 The Additional GA for Batticaloa, Mr. V. Shanmugam, unveiled the name board of the Police station. The public relations office of the TE Police was also opened at the function. Addressing the opening ceremony further Ramesh said: "We sacrificed thousands of lives to achieve this peace. All intellectuals and educated persons in our society should help us transform it into a political triumph." A Muslim civil society leader was also invited for the function along with government officials, NGO workers and members of the clergy.
