Jeevan memorial unveiled in Batticaloa

Memorial for Lt.Colonel Jeevan and seven LTTE cadres who
died in a confrontation with Sri Lanka Army (SLA)
last year was ceremoniously opened in Illuppadichenai
juntion today at 10.30 am on the day of the first anniversary
of their death, sources in Batticaloa said.
The memorial building consisted of a life-size statue of
Lt.Colonel Jeevan surrounded by picture frames of
the seven fighters who died along with Jeevan. The unveiling ceremony commenced with a military parade. Leader
of Jayanthan brigade, Commander Ram lit the sacrificial
lamp and Batticaloa-Ampara district special commander T. Ramesh
hoisted the Tamil eelam flag. Nilavini, Batti-Ampara district
head of the women's military division, unveiled the statue. Batticaloa-Ampara head of LTTE political division, Kausalyan
and other commanders unveiled the picture frames of the
seven LTTE fighters. Batti-Ampara head of the medical division
of the LTTE, Dr. Vaman also spoke. Parents, relatives of martyrs, government officials, workers and
residents of Illupadichenai and surrounding villages
participated in the ceremony.
