UNESCO photo-book exhibition opens in Trincomalee

The Travelling Photo and Book Exhibition sponsored by the Sri Lanka National Commission for UNESCO, was declared open Tuesday at the Trincomalee Town Hall by the North Eastern Provincial Education Ministry Secretary, Mr.R.Thiagalingam.
Additional Provincial Director of Education, Mr.S.Subramanaiam, said the present peaceful environment has provided an opportunity for the people of Trincomalee to witness a photographic exhibition of the UNESCO in their area. UNESCO could help the people of the province to obtain enough standard reading materials, he said. Mr.Thiagalingam said that UNESCO treats all communities in the world as one family. UNESCO renders immense service to protect the cultural heritage of all communities in the world, he said Ms. Rasika Yapa Bandara of the Sri Lanka National Commission of UNESCO made the welcome speech. Holding such exhibitions in several areas in the country could promote better understanding between all communities, she said. Ms. Indika Dilhami proposed the vote of thanks.
