Rotarians to honour Trincomalee senior citizens

The Rotary Club of Trincomalee is to honour four leading senior citizens in the east port town Saturday for their valued services in their field and to the community. The Rotary Governor Rotarian Mr. N.Pathmanathan who is
also Deputy Secretary to the Treasury will honour the senior citizens at an event scheduled to be held Saturday evening at the Rotary House in Trincomalee, sources said.
In addition, the Rotary Governor will distribute sewing machines to five women under a self-employment project. The four senior citizens to be honoured are: -
- Attorney-at-Law Mr.M.K.Sellarajah. Mr.Sellarajah also is the President of the historic Thirukoneswaram Temple in Trincomalee for more than two decades and a charter member of the Trincomalee Rotary Club.
- Mr.O.L.M.Ismail, the most senior lawyer in the Trincomalee Bar. Eighty-year-old Mr. Ismail is a practicing lawyer for more than a half century.
- Mr.V. Sivalingam, a retired Assistant Government Agent. Mr. Sivalingam rose to the position of Assistant Government Agent in the public service and a leading social and religious worker.
- Ms Baleswary Nallaretnasingham, a leading Tamil writer. Ms Nallaretnasingham, a retired teacher, is a well-known Tamil writer not only in Sri Lanka but also among Tamils abroad.
