The arrival of a group of one hundred Buddhist monks from south to Jaffna
Sunday has been delayed by one day. The group will arrive Jaffna Monday to
hold a prayer meeting lighting oil lamps at the historic Nallur Kandasamy
Temple on the same day evening, sources said.
The prayer meeting has been organized to mark the completion of one year of
the ceasefire agreement signed by the United National Front government and
the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam in February last year, sources said. A delegation of the Consortium of Humanitarian Agencies in Jaffna (CHAJ)
will receive the Buddhist monks at Sri Lanka Army checkpoint at Muhamalai
Monday morning, sources said. Officials of the CHAJ are to meet Monday morning at their office and will
then proceed to Muhamalai to receive the Buddhist monks, sources further said.
