Classes being held in the open

The police has stripped bare of furniture Saraswathi Viththiyalayam, a school located close to Oorani police station, 3 km north of Batticaloa, said sources in Batticaloa.

For the past three years students have been compelled to have classes beneath the trees or seated on the bare ground, because the police station has taken away all the furniture in the school.

School authorities are frightened to complain because the police could turn nasty if they knew that a complaint has been made against them by the school teachers said sources.
