Prof. Mageswaran succumbs to heart illness

Professor S. Mageswaran, the founding Head of the Chemistry Department and former Dean of the Science Faculty of University of Jaffna died on 2 February said sources close to him. He had been suffering from heart illness.

Prof. Mageswaran had been with the Univ. of Jaffna for twenty years.

He had developed heart illness during the heavy fighting that took place in Jaffna when the Sri Lankan army moved into the city in late 1995.

He is survived by his wife Dr. Mrs. Rajeswari Mageswaran and brother Mr. S. Rajeswaran.
