The Sri Lanka Army (SLA) has put up a notice board Thursday warning the civilians not to enter the Jaffna municipal lands which have been earmarked for establishing new army camps. "This is a government-military property. Any
unauthorized intruders will be dealt with minimum force," said the notice board erected near the MC lands, sources in Jaffna said.
Meanwhile the Jaffna District NGOs' Consortium is planning to protest against the government for allowing the SLA to establish new army camps in the midst of populated areas including places of worship and schools in the Jaffna town, sources said. However the SLA is actively clearing the Municipal council lands to establish new camps despite of protests by civil groups, sources said. "We will take all necessary steps to stop the establishment of new army
camps. If necessary we would file action in courts of law," said a representative of the Jaffna district NGOs after discussion with the representatives of Justice and Goodwill Mission Friday.
