Lankan PM's statement on peace process to be debated

A full day debate on the Sri Lanka's Prime Minister's statement made Tuesday in parliament regarding the current situation of the peace process will be held Thursday from 10 a.m. till 6.30 p.m. This was decided at a conference held Tuesday at the meeting of the leaders of the political parties which are represented in parliament. Speaker Mr.Joseph Michael Perera presided the meeting, sources said.

Regular one-hour lunch interval will be reduced to half an hour on Thursday to allocate more time to parliamentarians to participate in the debate, sources said.

In the meantime the parliamentary group of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) is scheduled to meet Wednesday morning in parliament to work out its strategy during the debate, TNA sources said.
