NEERP to hold workshop for northeast planning staff

Three-day workshop for the northeast planning staff to develop their capacity will commence on June 3. The North East Provincial Planning
Secretariat is to conduct the workshop sponsored by the World Bank funded
North East Emergency Reconstruction Programme (NEERP) and the Ministry of
Planning and Implementation of the central government, sources said.
Fifty officials in the grade of Deputy Directors and Assistant Directors
from divisions and districts of northeast province, provincial planning
secretariat, NEP ministries, Ministry of rehabilitation, Resettlement and
Refugees, Ministry of Eastern Development and Muslim Religious Affairs and
Ministry of Assisting Vanni Rehabilitation will participate in the workshop
that is to be held at provincial guest house at Uppuveli in the outskirts
of Trincomalee town, NEP sources said. Provincial Ministry Secretaries Ms Kamala Sivasithambaram,
Mr.R.Thiagalingam, K.Mahalingam, Mr.R.M.S.Ratnayake and P.Ramanathan will
address at the inaugural session that is to be held on the first day of the
workshop on June 3. The Deputy Chief Secretary for planning
Mr.V.S.Swaminthan who is in charge of the workshop will give the welcome
address, sources said. The Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Policy Development and
Implementation Mr.S.Rahubadda, President of the Sri Lanka Evaluation
Association and the Assistant Resident Representative of the UNDP Dr.Asoka
Kasthuriarachchi and Secretaries of Ministry of Rehabilitation,
Resettlement and Refugees, Ministry of Eastern Development and Muslim
Affairs and the NEPC Chief Secretary will deliver keynote talks to the
participants, NEPC sources said.
