Tamileelam police issues speed advisory to motorists

Following two deaths Saturday due to traffic accidents on A9, the Traffic section of Kilinochchi branch Tamileelam police issued an advisory to motorists to strictly adhere to speed limits instituted as safety precaution to allow A9 redevelopment work to proceed without delay, sources in Vanni said.

Police sources said that A9 between the Kilinochchi depot junction and Kilinochchi town are currently undergoing repairs. Heavy machinery used in the work has necessitated sections of A9 to be temporarily turned into one-way streets with appropriate street signs. The Tamileelam police requested the motorists to bear with the inconvenience and to use the by-roads as directed by the Police to avoid unnecessary delays.

The Tamileelam police requested full co-operation of the motorists to obey the the instructions of the Traffic police.

The police warned that strict penalties will be imposed to motorists violating the posted speed limits.
