Sri Lanka's Defence Secretary visits Vavuniya

Sri Lanka's Defence Secretary, Mr. Austin Fernando, and Secretary to the Finance Ministry, Charitta Ratwatte, were in Vavuniya Saturday to assess the current security situation and resettlement activities in Vavuniya and surrounding areas, military sources said.

Mr. Fernando and Mr. Rawatte visited Omanthai and Kokuveli areas in Vavuniya and discussed with local officials about the progress of resettlement of displaced persons in those areas, sources said.

They also met with Sri Lanka Army (SLA) officers in the Vavuniya Joseph camp and discussed matters related to checkpoints and general security, military source said.
