Economic progress demands commitment from Batti officials - Ramesh

"Every official in Batticalo district has a contribution to make in the development of our district. Only genuine commitment from our officials will enable us to improve economic prosperity of our people, said Ramesh, special commander of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) during the monthly meeting associated with North East Irrigation and Agriculture Project (NIAP) held in Karadyanaru Thenakam Rest House Tuesday moring at 11am, sourcesin Batticaloa said.
Batticaloa-Amparai district political head of LTTE, E. Kausalyan, presided the meeting. "With the prevailing climate of peace, this is the opportune time for us all to elevate our engagement and work towards achieving greater economic progress in Batticaloa," added Ramesh.

District Government Agent, E. Mounagurusamy said, "Lack of commitment of our officials in the past contributed to the serious backwardness of our district. When Government Officials execute their duties efficiently with vigor and with social responsibility our district will see significant economic growth." Batti-Amparai head of LTTE administration, Reginald, Director of Tamil Eelam Economic and Development Organization (TEEDOR), Nizam, Director of Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO), Karikalan, Thurai and 62 other Government Officers, Engineers from the Irrigation, Animal husbandry, Agriculture divisions, and NIAP accountants participated in the event. S. Vinotharaj, Batticaloa district NIAP commissioner presented the progress report for the period 2000-2003. The meeting concluded at 1.30 pm.
