SLA establishes new camp in Ariyalai

The Sri Lanka Army (SLA) is constructing a new camp at Ariyalai-Mampalam junction in the Jaffna town area since Thursday evening, civil groups in Jaffna said.

Civil sources said army has unloaded several logs of coconut and palmyra trees at the site to strengthen the new camp.

Earlier there was a camp at the Ariyalai-Mampalam junction and later it was removed following the signing of a ceasefire agreement by the government of Sri Lanka and the LTTE, sources said.

Residents of the area are now perturbed over the Sri Lanka Army's move to again construct a new camp at the same site, sources said.
