Tigers shell Mandoor STF

The Liberation Tigers attacked the Special Task Force camp in Mandoor, about 26 kilometers south west of Batticaloa early this morning wounding two STF commandos. The shelling began from 5.15 a.m. in the morning and went on until 6 a.m. said sources in Batticaloa.
The Tigers had fired thirty long range mortar shells into the camp. One shell had fallen directly on the STF office building in the camp's interior. The The Sri Lankan Police also has a post in this camp. The STF in Mandoor directed counter fire towards the LTTE controlled western hinterland across the lagoon said sources. Civilian casualties in the attack were not known. In another incident, a bomb concealed in a bicycle went off around 7.30 p.m. last night in the heart of Batticaloa town. No one was injured in the blast.
