Bomb explosion injures two civilians in Thenmaradchi

Two Tamil civilians, Mr.S.Sahayanathan (45) and Mr.S. Pararajasingham (57),were seriously injured in a bomb explosion that took place Wednesday morning at Sarasalai area in Madduvil north of Thenamaradchchi in the Jaffna district, police said.

Preliminary inquiries revealed that when the two injured were attempting to cut a margosa (neem) tree, a bomb believed to have been buried at the root of the tree had exploded. Another civilian at the site escaped unhurt, police said.

Both injured have been admitted at the Jaffna Teaching Hospital and reported to be out of danger, according to medical sources.
