Unidentified men lob grenade at Batticaloa TRO office

Unidentified men who came in a motorbike hurled a grenade at the office of the Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO) in Mahiladi Veethi in Batticaloa Wednesday night around 8.30 p.m. The grenade fell inside the premises of the TRO office damaging a vehicle, police said.

The vehicle belongs to a de-mining group. The grenade was lobbed soon after the vehicle entered the TRO office, police said.

On receipt of information monitors of the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission in Batticaloa and Police rushed to the site and conducted investigation, police said.

Batticaloa Police Thursday morning started recording statements from the driver and others of the TRO regarding the incident, sources said.
