Sencholai hosts CD release by expatriate Tamil girl[TamilNet, Saturday, 23 August 2003, 10:35 GMT]Archana, a 9 year old Tamil girl born in Norway, released her 12-song Tamil Compact Disc, at a ceremony attended by senior members of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) organized by the Sencholai Children's Home located in Puthukudiyiruppu in Vanni earlier this month.
Janani, Director of the Sencholai Childrens' Home, told TamilNet that she was pleased to organize the event as it encouraged expatriate Tamil families to continue to maintain ties with their homeland and wished that other Tamil parents also think of staging their children's events in their homeland. Balakumar, a senior member of the LTTE, speaking at the ceremony said that the event sets a precedent for the expatriate Tamil parents who are keen on inculcating the future generations with Tamil culture. ![]() Col.Theepan lights the ceremonial lamp Puthuvai Ratnathurai praised the quality of the music and noted that the songs not only reflected the struggle and hardship of the people of Tamil Eelam, but also described the difficulties faced by expatriate Tamil families. In this aspect the event promoted sharing of experiences of the diaspora and the Tamils living in the Northeast. Other senior members of the LTTE, Baby Subramaniam who is charge of education, LTTE’s deputy political head, Mr.Thangan and Anbarasan, head of the Village Upliftment Project also attended the event.
