Sinhalese fishermen enter northern sea for fishing

Vadamaradchchi fisheries society sources in Jaffna district Saturday complained to the civil authorities concerned that the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) is providing security to Sinhalese fishermen from the South who are engaged in fishing in the northern sea close to Vadamarachchi coast.
Earlier Indian fishermen poached in the northern sea depriving Jaffna fishermen of their catch and now for the last several days Sinhalese fishermen are doing the same, Jaffna fisheries sources said. Vadamarachchi fisheries sources further said that as the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) provides security to the Sinhalese fishermen they are unable prevent them from fishing. Fisheries Ministry and other related officials should help the Jaffna fishermen from this predicament, sources said.
