Time bomb defused in Batticaloa

The Sri Lanka Army (SLA) defused a time bomb placed on the road about 25 feet from the police station at Kalladi, near Batticaloa town around 3.15 p.m. today, said sources in Batticaloa.

The police informed the SLA of the bomb. The SLA and police are intrigued how the bomb was placed so close to the police station without detection, said sources in Batticaloa.

Meanwhile, two persons were arrested on suspicion after another bomb was detected at Ambilanthurai, 18 km south of Batticaloa this morning.

Vehicles on the road were stopped and checked thoroughly between 8.00 - 10.00 a.m., following this .

Two persons were arrested. Their identities are not known.
