LTTE opens Planning and Development Secretariat

The Planning and Development Secretariat of the Liberation Tigers began its operation today, 1st January 2004, the peace secretariat website said. Mr.Thuyavan, Director of Planning and Development, will head the team that will be responsible for setting policy guidelines and strategies for the development needs of NorthEast Sri Lanka, sources in Vanni said.

Mr.Thamilchelvan, Head of the LTTE's Political Wing, Mr. Thuyavan, the Director of the Planning and Development, Dr.Jay Maheswaran, Economic Advisor to the LTTE and the Senior Advisor to the Planning and Development Secretariat addressed the inaugural meeting.

Director of the SIHRN (Secretariat for Immediate Humanitarian and Rehabilitation needs), Mr. Selvin Ireneuss, and heads of the locally functioning NGOs and LTTE administrative units attended the inaugural meeting.
