“If the Sinhala people elect racist political leaders at the next election then Tamils might have to decide their own future. The Sinhala people should identify and reject chauvinist forces among them. It is in the hands of the Singhalese to prevent another bloodbath in this island," said Mr. S. P Thamilchelvan, the head of the Liberation Tigers political division during a goodwill meeting with journalists from the northeast in Kilinochchi Friday.
“How can we talk to those who say they want to negotiate with us but who demean the Tamil people’s struggle for their legitimate rights? There is no point in talking to those reject the Tamil people’s aspirations”, he said during the wide-ranging discussions. Journalists from the Jaffna dailies, Uthayan and Valampuri, Virakesari, Thinakkural, Eelanatham, Sooriyan FM Radio station, BBC (stringer), Voice of Tigers, Sri Lanka Tamil Media Alliance, etc., took part in the discussion and lunch with Mr. Thamilchelvan Friday.
