Sports teams from all the districts in the northeast are taking part in the festival, which will be held until 27 February.

Organizers of the festival said many men and women’s teams will play traditional Tamil sports such as Kapadi and Thaachchi.

The Kilinochchi grounds will be floodlit during the nights for the games, a spokesman for the organizing committee said.
