LTTE requests Jaffna Tamils not to leave Batticaloa, Amparai

The political secretariat of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) Wednesday issued a statement appealing to the people who have been living in the districts of Batticaloa and Amparai for generations not to leave their habitats succumbing to the threats and the pressure directly issued by the Karuna group or in the name of any other organizations.
The LTTE headquarters has officially expelled Karuna as a disciplinary measure for his misconduct. Now he is an individual and engaged in issuing various statements in the name of LTTE of Batticaloa and Ampara for his survival. He has been currently engaged in threatening people who are opposed to his misconduct to leave their habitats and also plundering their properties with the assistance of anti-Tamil national elements and with his henchmen, said the LTTE statement “ We appeal to all not to accept any statement by an individual Karuna as official releases of the LTTE. The LTTE has declared that all actions of the Karuna group, such as extortion plunder and acts of forcibly taking over properties, as unlawful and anti-national activities. Hence we request the Tamils of Batticaloa and Amparai not to follow any instruction issued by an individual Karuna any more, ” the LTTE said in the statement The LTTE has appealed to Tamils of Amparai and Batticaloa to ensure safety and concern for those neighbors who are threatened to leave their habitats by an individual and to encourage them to stay.
