Kathiraveli battle dead named

Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam yesterday named its three fighters who were killed in the 9th April Kathiravelli battle against cadres loyal to Renegade LTTE commander ‘Karuna,' Mr. Vinayagamoorthy Muraleetharan, Jaffna daily Uthayan reported.

The names of those killed announced by the LTTE were:

  • Velu Pandian (Lt.Pothikaithevan), from Badulla Road, Kittul Kulam, Karadiyanaaru, Batticaloa
  • Kanthasamy Arulchelvam (2nd Lt.Sangolian), Kadukkamunai, Kokkadicholai, Batticaloa
  • Thangarasa Kugan (Malar Kumaran), Mavalaiyan, Karadiyanaaru, Batticaloa.


Meanwhile, Vakarai Pradeshya Sabha Secretary, M.Uthayakumar announced yesterday that more than 2405 families who were displaced from the areas of Kathiravelli, Palchenai, Amanavelli, Vakarai will be provided with dry rations and other assistance to last atleast two weeks, local reports said.
