TNA MPs to meet Thamilchelvan Tuesday

Tamil National Alliance (TNA) parliamentarians will meet Mr.S.P.Thamilchelvan, political head of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, in Kilinochchi on Tuesday, April 20th, at 10 a.m., TNA sources said. A decision to this effect was taken at the TNA parliamentary group meeting held Friday at the parliamentary complex.

Only 18 TNA parliamentarians including two national list members Mr.Joseph Pararajasingham and Mr.M.K.Eelaventhan participated in the meeting. Messrs Selvam Adaikalanathan, N.Raviraj, M.K.Sivajilingam and Mr.S. Jeyanandamoorthy did not attend. TNA parliamentary group leader Mr.R.Sampanthan presided over the meeting which commenced around 11 a.m. and concluded at about 1.30 p.m., sources said.

No decision was taken at the meeting regarding the request by the United National Party to support its candidate for the post of Speaker, sources said. TNA parliamentary group will meet around 9 a.m. on April 22 before the ceremonial opening of the new parliament and will make a decision on the Speaker’s election, sources said.
