Trinco readies to celebrate Black Tigers Day

Arrangements are being made to celebrate Black Tigers Day in the Trincomalee district on July 05. Main event will be held on Monday morning at Chenaiyoor Central College in Liberation Tigers controlled Muttur east and in the evening at Sivan Kovil grounds in Trincomalee town, organizers said.
Photographs of eighteen Black Tigers of Trincomalee district will be taken in a
procession in the east port town on Sunday, organizers said. Black Tigers Day celebrations in the Trincomalee town will begin at
Sivankoviladi grounds Monday evening around 7.30 p.m. Speeches, cultural shows and fireworks will take place in Trincomalee town. Photographs the Black Tigers will be kept in the specially constructed stage designed in the form of a ship in the Sivankoviladi grounds for the people to pay
homage. Of the 18, eleven were Sea Black Tigers. Liberation Tigers released the following names as the Black Tigers:
- Captain Mathinilavan ( Kanapathipillai Thavarasa of Main Street, Trincomalee)
- Captain Karikalan ( Ratnasingham Prabaharan, Thampalakamam)
- Major Jeyam ( Gunanayagam Thevarasa, Pallikudiruppu).
- Major Mathusa (Rajaledchumi Murugesu (Thirukdaloor, Uppuveli)
- Major Sivasunthar (Sithiravel Ramachchandran , Kumburupiddy)
- Major Poiyamolli (Visuvasam Daniel, Kumburupiddy)
- Captain Ilayaval (Rajamalar Rasalingam, Orrs Hill, Trincomalee)
- Major Rathan (Velupillai Sureshrajan, Chelvanayakapuram, Trincomalee)
- Captain Subas (Marimuttu Vasanthamalar, Thampalakamam).
- Major Nalinan (Theiventhiran Jogeswaran, Mavadichchenai)
- Major Sulojan (Kumaralingam Vijendran, Thampalakamam)
- Lt.Colonel Neethiappan (Veerabagu Sivaneswaran (Manalchenai, Killiveddy)
- Major Thanushan (Thangaraja Ilankeswaran, Ralkuli)
- Roseman (Thevarasa Ravindrarajan, Nilaveli)
- Thamilinian (Chelvanayakapuram)
- Major Mathan (Sithamparanathan Sivajinathan, Muttur)

July 5 is the anniversary of the death of the first Black Tiger, Captain Miller, who was killed in 1987 destroying a Sri Lanka Army base located in the Nelliady Madhya Maha Vidyalayam, 25km North east of Jaffna town.
