Tigers overrun SLA posts in Jaffna

The Liberation Tigers overran the main SLA checkpoint along with its six defense bunkers at Aanaivilunthaan in Pachchilaippalli and the SLA's mini camp at Katchaarveli killing six soldiers in simultaneous attacks launched in the early hours of the morning today around 3.15 a.m. said the LTTE commander who was in charge of the attack this morning.
Aanaivilunthaan and Katchaarveli are both in the southern part of the Jaffna peninsula. He told the TamilNet's Vadamaradchi correspondent who met him this morning at Naagarkovil in Vadamaradchi east that the attack had lasted for only five minutes and that the Liberation Tigers had remained in control of the army positions for about half an hour, firing mortars on SLA reinforcements which were rushed to the area and the other SLA mini camps in both areas. The other SLA soldiers in both positions, according to him, had fled with their wounded. He said that the Liberation Tigers recovered the following weapons from the SLA in the predawn attacks today. RPG- 1 T 56/2- 1 T 56/1- 1 T 56 magazines- 6 RPG shell- 1 RPG propeller-1 RPD LMG Drum magazine-1 medium rounds-1500 medium rounds with links-500 SSG 87 type grenades-10 K400 type grenades-3 Hand held flares-5 claymore mines-2 concertina roll-1 Exploder-1 40 mm shells-2 bullet proof jackets-5 magazine pouch-1 boots-3 pairs kit bags-3 water can-1 bicycles-3. Two Tigers, Captain Anpalahan (Jaffna) and Lt.Cholan (Jaffna), were killed in the attack the LTTE commander said.
