Government bent on creating war-phobia - Elilan

''Statements made by the Government of Sri Lanka (GOSL) and chauvinist
political parties on the question of finding a political solution to the
Tamil national question are aimed to create disharmony among communities and
to unleash violence in Sri Lanka,'' said Mr.S.Elilan, Trincomalee district
political head of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) addressing a
meeting held at Eachchilampathu Sri Shenabaga Maha Vidiyalayam in the
Muttur east division Tuesday. The meeting was organized by the Thamileelam
National Resurgence Forum, sources said.
Mr.Elilan further said, ''We are prepared to face a war if it is thrusted on
us. Tamil people are also prepared to meet any challenges in finding a
meaningful political solution to their problems.'' He charged that the main political parties in Sri Lanka, which come to power
through elections, have failed to produce a just and fair political solution
to the Tamil struggle. ''The Sinhala main political
parties are dragging their feet when the question of finding a political
solution to meet the legitimate political aspirations of Tamils is taken up
for discussion in peace talks,'' said Mr.Elilan. At the commencement of the meeting the head of the Thamileelam National
Resurgence Forum Mr.Sanjiv lit the common flame of sacrifice and
Mr.Sencheran, political head of Verugal division, hoisted the Thamileelam
national flag. LTTE Muttur division political head Mr.Thangan and Mr.Sanjiv
also spoke.
