Batticaloa jail murder accused transferred to Moneragala

Mahendran Puvitharan, the Batticaloa jail inmate accused of killing 'Satchi Master,' and another a key associate of renegade commander Karuna was transferred to a prison in Moneragala, Uva province, local media reported.

Although the accused had demanded that he be left in Batticaloa prison as a condition when he surrendered, prison authorities said that due to security concerns they are forced to move him from Batticaloa prison.

The reports also said that the investigation into the murder conducted by the prison authorities is complete and the final report is expected to be handed over to the Secretary General of Prisons soon.

Two non LTTE prisoners were wounded in the attack.

Tigers previously charged that Satchi Master was acting as Karuna's spokesman from his prison cell under the name 'Maran' with connivance of the Sri Lankan military intelligence.
