Muhamalai checkpoints get 24-hour power supply

The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has informed the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) that it has provided electricity supply and other related facilities to open the Muhamalai checkpoints for twenty hours without interruption, CEB sources said.

CEB Northern Regional Deputy General Manager Mr.S.Kamalanathan has sent a communication to the ICRC that electricity supply has already been given to the checkpoints of the Sri Lanka Army and the LTTE.

The communication further states that the CEB is now engaged in making arrangement to provide electricity supply to Omanthai checkpoints of the SLA and LTTE enabling those points to be opened for 24 hours, sources said.
