Development needs of Kopay electorate spotlighted

Mr.Suresh Premachchandran, Jaffna district Tamil National Alliance (TNA)
parliamentarian, Monday held a conference in his office and discussed the
problems affecting the development of Kopay electorate in Jaffna district.
About seventy representatives of civil organizations from 31village level
divisions (Grama Sevaka) in the electorate attended the discussion,
sources said.
Mr.S. Thuraisingham presided the meeting. Mr.Premachchandran briefed the gathering the action he has taken to
implement several development and rehabilitation projects in the Kopay
electorate. Mr.Premachchandran stressed the urgent need of establishing the
Interim Self-Governing Authority (ISGA) as proposed by the Liberation
Tigers of Tamil Eelam
(LTTE) for effective implementation programme of reconstruction and
rehabilitation of the northeast province, sources said. Before the start of the conference he visited Araly West,
Kootaikadu, Painthamil and Muththamil villages and discussed with the
people about their urgent needs and assistance, sources said. Kopay is one of the ten electorates in Jaffna district. Other electorates
are, Jaffna, Nallur, Uduvil, Kayts, Vaddukoddai, Udupiddy, Point Pedro,
Chavakachcheri and Kankesanthurai.
