Open verdict on mysterious death

Batticaloa courts Acting Judge K. Thangavadivel issued an open verdict on the death of the Raazeek group soldier Nadarajah Thevathaas today. He ordered the Police to arrest suspects involved in the death of Thevathaas and produce them in courts along with witnesses.

The judge was acting on the Batticaloa JMO's report on the soldier's death, according to which he had been attacked with blunt weapons that had damaged his internal organs, causing haemorrhage and the failure of the lungs, kidney and liver.

The soldier's internal organs have been sent to the government analysts department sources said.

The Raazeek group had nothing to comment on the matter.
