LTTE delegation exchanges views on Peace in Dublin

Liberation Tigers delegation lead by Head of Political Wing, S.P.Thamilchelvan, met with Officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of Ireland, led by Mr Connor Lenihan, Minister of State, in Dublin Thursday morning, LTTE sources from Ireland said. Later the delegation met officials at the Glencree Center for Reconciliation in Dublin.
Political Director and Assistant Secretary General, Department of Foreign Affairs, Mr David Conney, and Executive Officer at Development Corporation Directorate, Ms Anne O'Keeffe also participated on behalf of the Government of Ireland in the discussions. Secretary General of LTTE Peace Secretariat, Pulidevan, and Deputy Secretary General, Ms Selvy Karthikeyan, accompanied Thamilchelvan for the discussions. Thamilchelvan briefed the Irish officials the current state of the peace process and the impediments to peace arising from inconsistent positions adopted by the constituents of the ruling United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA). The LTTE delegation also exchanged with the Irish officials experiences gained in the peace processes in Ireland and in Sri Lanka. The LTTE delegation later met with officials of the Glencree Center for Reconciliation. LTTE's Constitutional Affairs Committee met at the same Center in October 2003 to finalize the Interim Self-Governing Authority (ISGA) proposals.
