A completely decomposed corpse of a youth was found today in the shrub jungles of Thandiyadi in the south eastern sector of the Ampara district this morning around 9.30 a.m. by a young boy who had gone to herd cattle in the area.
The Sri Lankan Police at Akkaraipattu and the coroner for the area Mr. Velmurugu Jeyasekeran visited the spot on information given the by boy later today. The coroner in his report said that the corpse was that of a male aged 25, who has been dead for not more than a month. He said that he was unable determine the exact cause of the death as the body was too decomposed. The Police called on the people to report anyone who has gone missing since a month ago. However, well informed sources close to the coroner said that there is latent forensic evidence which shows that the dead persons limbs were broken and that he had been shot dead.
