Book on Yogaswamy released in Kilinochchi

A book titled "Yogaswamy and Kilinochchi: A Spiritual Journey" describing the spiritual association of the popular Columbuthurai, Jaffna, sage Yogaswamy with Kilinochchi district was released Friday at the Kilinochchi Cultural Center by Srimath Aathma Ganananthaji swamy from Colombo Ramakrishna Mission, sources in Vanni said.
Special guests and Kilinochchi residents went on a procession with ceremonial band from Kilinochchi Kandaswamy Temple to the Cultural Center at 9am before the event. President of Tamil Department at Jaffna Campus, Prof A Sanmugathas, Government Agent of Kilinochchi, T. Rasanayagam, Kilinochchi district Head of LTTE Political Division, Kandeepan, Leader of Nallai Adheenam, Somasundara Paramachariyar, Karaichi Distric Commissioner Pon Nithyanandam, Retired Judge M Thirunavukkarasu, and Ganeshanantha Mahadeva Swamy and Sellathurai Swamy from Kilinochchi Mahadeva Achramam were special guests at the book release event.
Yogaswamy was born as Sadasivan on 21 May 1872 to Ambalavanar and Sinnachi Amma not far from the Kandaswamy temple in Maviddapuram, Sri Lanka. He was a disciple of Chellapaswamy, and after his guru' death, sat on the roots of a huge olive ("Iluppai") tree in Colombuthurai for the next few years. After that he was persuaded to inhabit a small hut in Colombuthurai. Devotees sought solace and spiritual guidance from Yogaswamy until his death when he reached 91 years.
