Mr.K.Thurairatnasingham, Tamil National Alliance Trincomalee district parliamentarian speaking during the committee stage debate in Parliament said that although several villages in Muttur have been selected as part of Rural Electrification project no Tamil villages are included in the scheme, parliamentary sources said.
Seventy percent of villagers in Muttur division are using bottle lamps and their children study in the light of bottle lamps, Mr.Thurairatnasingham said. He said even after signing the ceasefire agreement, normalcy has not returned in the lives of Tamil people in the Trincomalee district
especially in villages. They continue to undergo untold difficulties in getting the urgent needs and medical facilities in their villages. This is why Tamil people and the LTTE are pressing for the establishment of the Interim Self-Governing Authority (ISGA), he added.
