Mr.Thooyavan, LTTE Nilaveli division political head in Trincomalee district Sunday lodged a complaint with the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) that an abortive attempt has been made to destroy the LTTE's Nilaveli political office by setting fire to the asbestos roofed building and a cadjan hut Sunday early morning around 3.30 a.m. Addressing a group of Trincomalee based journalists later in the day Mr.Thooyavan accused that some members of the State armed forces located in the area were allegedly behind this attempt, sources said.

Mr.Thooyavan showed some materials left behind by the alleged saboteurs in the premises of the LTTE office when they fled from the site. The saboteurs poured kerosene on the cadjan roof of a hut and petrol to the building with concrete wall. An inmate who slept inside the office suddenly got up when he smelt petrol. When he opened the main door and came out, alleged saboteurs had fled from the scene leaving several items they brought to set fire to the buildings, Mr.Thooyavan said. "We followed the footprints and cycle marks which led to the nearby security forces camp. We are certain that saboteurs were from that camp. On November 2nd, LTTE flag hoisted in the LTTE office was stealthily removed from the flagpole. During the Heroes Day celebrations several cut-outs and decorations were destroyed by these elements," said Mr.Thooyavan. Mr.Thooyavan said a vigilante committee has been now appointed to stop such attempts.
