New NE Governor arrives in Trincomalee

Mr.Tyronne Fernando, newly appointed Governor of the North East Province is scheduled to assume duties in the Governor's Secretariat Wednesday morning after a religious ceremony where dignitaries of all faiths would offer their blessings. The Governor's Secretariat is located in Orr's Hill area in Trincomalee town, sources said.
 All parliamentarians of the Trincomalee district, Chief Secretary of the North East Provincial Council (NEPC) and all provincial secretaries have been invited for the event. He took oaths as the fourth governor of the northeast province last week before President Ms Chandrika Kumarathunge, sources said. Mr.Tyronne Fernando arrived in Trincomalee Tuesday evening for the first time after being sworn in as the NE Governor, sources said Mr.Tyronne Fernando is scheduled to address a conference on Thursday, which will be attended by various heads of departments that come under the NEPC, sources said. He replaces Major General (retd) Asoka Jayawardene who assumed duties as the Secretary for the Ministry of Defence on December 1, sources said.
