Civil groups to hold agitation campaign in Jaffna

The first human chain agitation campaign demanding the Government of Sri Lanka (GOSL) to strengthen the peace process and to recommence the stalled negotiations with the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) on the basis of Interim Self-Governing Authority (ISGA) proposals is scheduled to be held in Thenmaradchchi division in Jaffna district on Monday.

Civil groups federation in Thenmaradchchi division are making arrangement to hold this campaign on Monday from Kodikamam to Kaithady on A 9 Jaffna-Kandy highway, civil sources said.

People of the Thenmaradchchi division would participate in the campaign holding placards and shouting slogans, the sources said.

Similar campaigns will be held in important towns in the other divisions of the district, the sources said.

The second human chain agitation campaign is scheduled to be held on 29 December in Vadamaradchchi division, the sources said.
