Eeachilampathu villagers without food, medicine - Trinco MP

Trincomalee district parliamentarian Mr.K.Thurairatnasingham who has been visiting flood stricken Eachchilampathu division in Muttur area, down south of Trincomalee district told TamilNet by telephone Tuesday night that all roads connecting more than twenty villages have been washed away by the spill water flood and villagers are using plastic boats and catamarans to travel from one village to another.

Displaced people are without proper food and medicines. They cook under the shades of trees. In some villages he had seen people sleeping under trees in high land, Mr.Thurairatnasingham said.

He contacted Minister Mr.Jeyaraj Fernandopulle by phone and requested him to send urgent food supplies and other relief to these marooned villagers.

About three thousand villagers are rendered homeless as spill water from Minneriya tank in Pollonnorawa district flowing through these villages to the sea since Sunday with the opening of spill gates of Minneriya tank by irrigation authorities, Mr.Thurairatnasingham said.
