More bodies recovered in Manatkadu village[TamilNet, Wednesday, 29 December 2004, 03:38 GMT]One hundred more bodies of Tsunami victims were recovered at government controlled Manatkadu village in the Vadamaradchchi east division in Jaffna district till Tuesday evening. Search operation for missing persons feared to be dead is continuing. The number of deaths in this area has exceeded two thousand in the LTTE controlled Vadamaradchchi east division. Manatkadu comes under the government controlled area, civil sources said. Unidentified bodies and were buried by the civil authorities after being photographed at the expense of the State, sources said. Several injured in the Sunday disaster are admitted at the Jaffna Teaching Hospital on average 100 daily from the LTTE controlled areas, Mullaitivu district and Vadamaradchchi east division, sources said. Meanwhile, Mr.C.Ilamparithi, LTTE Jaffna district political head appealed to the youths of the district to rise to the occasion to restore normalcy in the affected coastal areas. He made this appeal at a press briefing held at LTTE Jaffna district secretariat. He said youths could engage themselves in restoring transport facilities between areas cut off due to Tsunami and clearing the debris. Sports Clubs and another civil organizations should muster their maximum authority in this regard, he added.
