Two SLA troops killed

Two Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers were killed at Maavadivembu, 17 km. north of Batticaloa, on the Batticaloa-Valaichenai road around 11.45 a.m. today, when the Liberation Tigers fired at soldiers on sentry duty, guarding a SLA convoy route.

The SLA retaliated by firing randomly in the area for about 30 minutes. Kasupathy, 45, father of three children was wounded in his right knee.

Devotees who had come to attend a Hindu festival at the Sithaandy Sri Murugan Temple were also severely assaulted by the SLA troops.
