Trinco TECH purifying wells in Tsunami hit areas

The Economic Consultancy House (TECH) of the Trincomalee district funded by the Australian TECH has launched a project purifying all wells in Tsunami hit coastal areas in the district from salinity. Most of the wells in the coastal areas in the Divisional Secretariat divisions of Kuchchaveli, Kinniya, Eeachilampathu and Muttur were flooded with seawater, sources said.

Recently officials of the Australian TECH accompanied by Trincomalee TECH visited the areas affected in the district. They first selected Kadaloor in Kinniya division under this project. Trinco TECH workers and volunteers supported by Tsunami victims of the area conducted the purifying work in Kadaloor, the sources said. Four water pumps have been sent to Eachchilampathu area for purifying wells. Trincomalee TECH has decided to extend this project to other Tsunami affected villages, the sources said.
