NEPC to hold Tsunami drawing competition, exhibition

North East Provincial Education, Cultural Affairs, Sports and Youth Affairs Ministry is to conduct a drawing competition and hold an exhibition on Tsunami disaster on February 26 to mark the second month remembrance of the natural disaster. The exhibition will be held in Batticaloa, Provincial Education Ministry Mr.Thiagalinkam said.
The theme of the competition is to spotlight the consequences of the tsunami destruction and to create confidence in the minds of people the ways to overcome the disaster in the future, provincial ministry in its release said. Students of Grade 5 to Grade 13 in the northeast schools are entitled to participate in the drawing competition. Drawings can be of modern art or traditional one. All drawings should be submitted to respective Zonal Directors of Education on or before February 18, the release added. All drawings submitted would be displayed at the February 26 exhibition. The best three will be awarded with valuable prizes by the NR Provincial Governor Mr.Tyronne Fernando. Ten consolation prizes will also awarded, sources said.
