Grenade attack on Batticaloa PLOTE camp

Three PLOTE cadres were wounded when two unidentified men riding a motorbike lobbed a grenade on the group's camp in Batticaloa town Friday afternoon. The condition of two injured PLOTE cadres is serious, Police said. The PLOTE camp is in a high security sector of the eastern town.

The assailants got away, Police said.

Injured were admitted Batticaloa hospital.

The wounded PLOTE cadres are Mr. Balasubramaniam Baheerathan (Rathan), 45, Mr. Thambirasa Balasunderam (Kaanthan), 41 and Mr. Nagamany Sivarajah (Vellai), 44.

Mr. Baheerathan's son Laxikaanthan, 15 was also wounded.

The condition of Mr. Sivarajah and Mr. Balasunderam is serious, Police said.
